On Tuesday, we played a game in Muay Thai that was super fun but super difficult in Spanish. If the teacher said cabeza, we had to touch our head; if he said codo, we had to touch our elbow; etc. Then the teacher would make a call, and we would have to beat our partner to grabbing the cone between us. You can see in the video how slow I am compared to everyone else. I know I have more slow twitch muscle than fast twitch, but I credit most of that reaction time disparity to the language. I like to think working out is always fun -- I'm definitely one of those people who gets a major workout high -- but some workouts are just more fun than others. While I usually don't like having less than 10 grains of rice for a week, I felt it was slightly justified because I was traveling and tapering for a Sunday race and ended up doing A TON of walking in Seville. (Whether the walking helped more to keep me legs loose or to wear me out, I'm not entirely sure.) I had to walk 3 miles to the race and 3 miles after the race back to hostel (not to mention another ~45 minute walk from the hostel to the train station), so I am sufficiently exhausted to say the least. I ended up getting 39th overall, 7th overall woman, and 3rd senior woman. My upper back between my shoulder blades is achy and hurting, but (hopefully) some rest and self-prescribed PT will fix that. Definitely a different week in terms of workouts. Tried Muay Thai and will be adding that to my normal weekly workouts. I also went on a hike Wednesday. And in terms of "normal" exercising, my endurance run just so happened to fall after we had rain here in Casariche. I know...rain! Shocker! Let's just say I got more than a little muddy, and my shoes suffered from it. |
