Usually if I'm upset about something, working out helps me feel better. I've learned to put person issues aside while working out because being upset about something can serve as a major distraction during workouts. I learned to put all other issues aside other than the task at hand during my gymnastics years, as being distracted can also cause serious injury. But on occasion, workouts do now function as a way to let out anger and frustration or escape from issues in your personal life. On occasion, everything catches up with you while you're on the water or sometimes before that when you're just trying to get your butt out the door. Emotional exhaustion can be more tiring than physical exhaustion - that fact was very evident to me this past week as I didn't work out that much but constantly felt spent. I'm not much of a yoga/zen/meditation kind of person, but I might need it in these coming weeks to help me recover from my emotional injury, as cheesy as that may sound... Cheers to a fast recovery.
